A South Texas where African heritage is known, taught, and celebrated in every school, city hall, and family table — and where our community's wellbeing rises with it.
To celebrate, preserve, and uplift African heritage through community programs in Hope, Help, Healing, History, and Happenings — delivered with dignity and in partnership with those we serve.
Governance
S.T.A.H.N. operates as a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and celebrating African heritage in South Texas.
Membership is open to all who support the mission; annual dues are $25 with voting rights at the general assembly.
A board of no fewer than seven directors serves staggered two-year terms, elected by the membership.
Programming is organized under five standing domains, each led by a director and supported by volunteer committees.
The fiscal year runs January through December; annual financials are reviewed and published to members.

Record 250 oral histories and publish a searchable digital heritage archive.
Build a sustainable funding base of members, sponsors, and grants supporting year-round staff.
Double scholarship awards and place every Rising Leaders mentee with a long-term mentor.
